Throwback Thursday – Transmitter Rebuild

Here’s a blast from the past. I had just moved into my little townhouse when this transmitter landed in my lap to rebuild. Naturally I said yes without thinking it through. I’m sure the neighbors loved all the racket. Anyway, this Bauer 602 transmitter was originally placed into service in 1964. It was removed form service around 2001 in favor of a more efficient solid state transmitter. It was a challenge and I have to thank the late Paul Gregg for his help. It took about a week, but all high voltage wiring and components were tested and replaced. We cleaned it up and replaced a few RF components as well. It still in operation to this day. Thanks for watching.
