Mounting a Receive Antenna

Moving the receive antenna up for better reception seemed like a no brainier. Not the case here. We mounted the antenna at the top of an extended telephone pole only to learn that the antenna didn’t work at all. It turns out there is a lot of interference on the mountain top and the old growth Forrest is providing terrain shielding from the interference at lower elevations. We spent half a day moving the antenna all around the tower until we found the sweet spot. Like my friend Scott Sparks always says, “if it were easy, anyone could do it.”
